Reflecting on the past assignments:

The past assignments were very interesting and i have been interested in what the topics were. They were different every time. i have developed my writing skills and i learned from all the different things that i wrote about. It also made me read about things i did not know about, and also to read articles from different sources on the internet. It is very interesting to read the different way of writing about all things, and the different ways the articles talk about the same things. The last topic i chose to write about was the most important to me because it was talking about a bad thing for the world, and it was new news. i also saw that there is a difference between news articles and general articles about different things. The internet has many information to learn from. I have seen many more articles and i like to read more to increase my knowledge in different things and know more information online. This is making me know more things and this will help me in my work life and my personal life. Thank you.

Japan's Earthquake

It was a tradegy that hit Japan in March 2011. The Tsunami strikes again in Asia, and causes damages that no body expected. The 8.9 magnitude earthquake damaged a city 400km north-east of Tokyo, and destoyed cars, ships and buildings (citation 1,4). Hundreds of people died and more were missing under the damaged buildings and houses, The death toll from the disaster is expected to exceed 1,300, with most deaths due to drowning. The official death toll by 12th of March 2011 stands at 413, with 784 people missing and 1,128 injured (citation 3). This was a very sad day for Japan. The earthquake is the fifth largest in the world since 1900 (citation 1).

The most critical part of the earthquake is the nuclear plant of Fukushima, where the remaining thousands of people living near it have been ordered to evacuate. The pressure on the nuclear plant was much higher than the normal level, and the only solution was to bring the pressure down  by releasing radioactive steam. The nuclear factory had to be shut down to avoid more nuclear leaking.

The earthquake was faster than a plane. The tsunami rolled across the Pacific at 800km/h (500mph) - as fast as a jetliner - before hitting Hawaii and the US West Coast (citation 1) and was strong enough to reach the west coast of America, but with no major damage. The Tsunami alerts were made in other parts of the world including China and Australia. It was not just a Japanese crisis, it was a crisis for the whole world especially with the nuclear leak.

More damage included petrochemical factories as clouds of grey smoke came out of an oil refinery, in Chiba following the earthquake (citation 2), thousands of homes across Japan, and millions of people suffered from no electricity. Many people had to stay away from their homes and offices, and went together to open spaces because of fear from damage and death. The world was very scared of more deaths and more damage. Everybody was shocked and sad because this was a bad time for millions of people. The earthquake's effects were seen in many places in Japan and other countries were scared. It will take Japan many years to fix the damage to the transportation system and electricity. Japanese, accustomed to frequent earthquakes, were stunned by this one’s magnitude and the more than 100 aftershocks, many equivalent to major quakes (citation 4).

I think there is not a perfect solution to a natural disaster, but the damage can be prevented or minimized if early warnings can be done. The main victims of these disasters are the poor people who can't leave their homes because there is no where to live. They have cheap homes and maybe they don't have cars. A few days before the crisis they can not have time or move away and be safe from this disaster. The government should protect their people and make sure they can take them to safe places before the time of the disaster. They should also make sure everybody will know by big speakers in every city. The dangerous factories have to be far away from any houses and should be prepared for the worst cases. This will help many people recover from the effect of this earthquake. The money that will cost the government can save many lives and protect other things like the buildings and factories.

The people living next to the factories have to know the problems that they can have if they live there. They have to be trained to avoid the problems from the factories in the emergency cases. The nuclear power is important but is also very dangerous if anything is wrong, The effects can be for many years on people and animals directly and can also effect food products.

This is something that all countries have to care about together to save lives in all counties. If this happens again in another country, the world has to move to help because this affects many places. The solution is difficult but it is not impossible. We can not stop any earthquake, we have to educate everybody how to understand and work to make the world safe from damages by knowledge and to be ready with plans and help. This is the responsibility of the government to protect its people and its economy from losing many important things like lives and projects. This damage takes years to build and develop, and we should know that everything can go in minutes, so we have to be ready to accept the changes and we should be thankful for everything we have. The money that countries use for war is enough to help save them from disasters. This is the solution to earthquakes in my view. And I hope all countries can work together and cooperate to help eachother.

Reflection

Reflecting on the past assignments:

I would like to reflect on the work that I did for this course. It is a very interesting and good experience to write about important topics like Internet, cars and violence. These subjects are good to show the way of studying and writing about different topics that are related to business in many ways. I liked that topic about cars, as cars are very popular with UAE Nationals and we enjoy driving and fast cars. The common idea of research and looking for the right  information is interesting and it is adding more knowledge to me and I enjoy writing about things I like. Business is related to everything we buy or use, like cars, computers and banks. It shows that money comes and goes but we have to manage our spending on things that are important and we have to be economic in how we live our lives. Writing is a good way to express our ideas because we can think carefully about our words and make sure we give the right information. The internet is a very good source of information and I have learned a lot from this experience.

The internet technology

Introduction:

The internet is a powerful world that we all live in. It has created a new culture of information that is available to everybody. It has millions of services that made life very different than how it used to be. There are many uses of the internet and this report will give more details about the history of this technology, and its effects on business and life.

Part 1:

In my view, the internet is the main reason why we are in the age of information and speed. Technologies in today’s world are highly dependent on the internet and its applications. This is not only in the communications part, but also for selling and marketing. The history of the spread of the internet is proof of its importance to everybody from all ages.

A Brief History:

The internet was invented gradually over time, but the origins started in the 1960s when the US government decided to build a computer network by cooperating with private commercial companies. Many commercial networks were built later. In the 1980s, international companies were developing network technologies, and international standards to merge multiple networks. An international network of computers and servers was commercialized in the 1990s to become the Internet that we know today.

It is amazing how fast a technology can grow, and become very essential to our lives. The popularity and limits of the internet are still very wide. Early education, business, even any other form of technology is now related to the internet. I believe the main reason is the cost effectiveness, speed and flexibility that made this technology a necessity in all aspects of life. In 2009, it was estimated that one quarter of the world population uses the services of the internet.

The services of the internet are provided by telecommunication companies, and the level of service varies from one country to another. Some countries have higher speed and some countries have cheaper prices. New packages are available that combine the internet with TV channels and free telephone service. All of these services are based on internet applications and there is a growing demand for more combined services under one package that uses the power and speed of the internet network.

The internet has made life easier, and has made the world a smaller place. It is stronger than the media in communicating and delivering ideas and messages to the world. The growth of the need for the internet is expected to continue in the future and it is very hard to imagine when the internet will be considered as an old technology because it is the most advanced invention that mankind has ever made. But it is important to remember that we said the same thing about all past inventions. So the human mind is still more powerful than all technologies because it always surprises us with more inventions that make current inventions seem old, and people easily forget about old technologies no matter how important they used to be, if something new, cheaper and faster comes. Scientific centres in the big universities are continuing to discover and invent, and that did not stop with the internet.
Part 2:
The Internet: impact on Businesses
It has been 20 years since the internet was commercialized, and global business has seen many changes since then. New types of internet based business were built, and many companies changed their old ways to internet based processes.
As mentioned, the internet has impacted businesses in every way. Mostly, it has made business easier and reaching more people around the world. It is a strong tool to have international branches for companies, and even to not have any office for online business. Online trading is dependent on the internet and a lot of money is exchanged online. This can be seen with stock markets that have made many people rich from their homes without opening offices.
Some people say that the internet can have negative effects on businesses. While some businesses become successful through this technology, other businesses are negatively affected when their information is stolen online by hackers. This has also created new sciences and businesses that protect companies from internet hacking.
With the internet, hundreds of millions of people around the world can access the same global network that is used by governments and international businesses .With this in mind, It is clear that the internet can help or fail companies around the world.

Compare between Bugatti VS Porsche911 Turbo

Everybody wonders if they had all the money in the world, what type of car would they buy? Which car would be superior as a whole? In this essay I will do a comparison between two super exotic cars, the Porsche 911 turbo and the remarkable Bugatti Veyron in terms of performance, efficiency and luxury as well as not forgetting the price range.
First of all let's talk about the similarities of both vehicles. The Porsche and the Bugatti both are coupes with one door on each side. Similarly they have the same transmission technology with six gear speeds as well as a bumper to bumper length of 4.4 meters. But the most spectacular design of both cars is the similarity that the engines come in the rear. This gives both cars a unique and impressive overall appearance.
Despite the resemblances between the two, they have a wide range of differences. One of which is the Porsche 911 Turbo engine has a 500-horsepower which produces 516-pound feet torque but the Bugatti has 1001 horsepower  and produces 922-pound feet torque. Another big difference is the speed; the Porsche 911 Turbo's top speed is 312 k/m per hour and it does 0-60 km/h in 3.7 sec while the Bugatti's top speed is 407 k/m per hour and it goes from 0-60 km/h in 2.5 sec.
The BBC series "Top Gear" demonstrates that the Bugatti needs to use 270 horse power to reach 155 MPH but to reach to a maximum speed from 155 to 253 MPH it needs to use another 730 horse power. The Bugatti goes from 200 km/h to 300 km/h in 9.4 sec. When the Bugatti reaches a maximum speed at 407 km/h the engine sucks in air in one minute equal to what a man breathes in four days and the tires will last about 15 minutes before which the fuel runs out in 12 minutes according to James May from the show .
On the other hand the Porsche has DFI which works on direct fuel combustion mixture controlled by electromagnetic control valves direct in the engine cylinders instead of a carburetor as in normal cars. The PDK model in the Porsche has a selectable 7th gear option at higher speed for better fuel performance. The Porsche's auto designed gear selection and traction control with the built in VTI engine control delivers max torque in lower rpms increasing the fuel consumption and delivering max speed while maintaining comfort through corners with greater agility and stability.
The Porsche 911 turbo is worth $132,800 while the Bugatti is way more expensive with a price tag of $1,270,000.
In my point of view the Porsche 911 turbo is not that expensive compared to the Bugatti. Furthermore it's a popular car and cheaper to buy. The Porches 911 turbo is a daily used car and it's fast enough. But the Bugatti is too hard to own mainly because of its high cost.

Violence

Violence

Violence against women is a worldwide problem and it, ranges from sterilization abuse to prescription drug abuse, battering and rape.  Thirty years ago most forms of violence against women were hidden under silence or acceptances.
The main reason is influenced by social attitudes & values that men are naturally superior to women; also the social structures have contributed to violence against women such as Legal system, community, family and friends.
To solve this problem we have to understand the male violence against woman, which is caused by psychological problem and unbearable life pressures and every woman has to protect herself by documenting what happens so she will contribute to stop this violence by calling the police if she sees or hears evidence of domestic violence. She should support a friend or family member who may face the same problem and all of us must raise our children to respect others, protect themselves and take a self-defense class if possible.
